C’mon, Who Reads G-Scene?
I have been fascinated by this cluster-fuck of a website ever since I first heard of it. However, I refuse to post a link to it for fear that more people will accidentally set their gaze upon that car wreck. The following formula is my understanding of the website:
(Thurston + Redbull + Vodka + Daddy Issues + Japone + Digital Photography + Shoddy CSS Design)^ ROFLCaptions = GScene
Am I missing anything?
Who reads this thing? Who scrolls through the pictures of drunk freshmen and is entertained? Who is thankful for the fact that they get paid to advertise for stupid shit? GScene’s existance baffles me.
Courageous readers of The Colonialist, I need the following questions answered:
- Why is GScene?
- Who reads GScene?
- Why?
- Is it a social experiment?
- Why do they always wish Happy Birthday to people I don’t know?
- How many Zimas do the writers drink every Thursday?
If you can provide answers to one or all of these, you are a white light at the end of this dark, dark tunnel called GW.

It might be the worst Website ever.It embarrasses me that prospective students might stumble across that website and actually think that is what GW kids are like.

but, my backside is featured on the spring fashion section. just throwin it out there. i only stumbled upon it after reading this article then googling gscene. hahha ewwww
I don’t know who reads it. It seems geared towards Greeks. And I never know anyone they’re talking about! It’s embarrassing, it’s like they think they’re celebs.

I think it’s pretty clear who it is catered to, and it is DEFINITELY not the Greek community.
If you’re curious as to what I am talking about, you obviously never watched Alejandro Mongalo’s “Glamour and Dirt” on GWTV a couple years ago.
I know no one is talking shit about glamour and dirt. Nor the people to whom the show was geared. Wise up.
If you do a google search for G-scene 6 out of the first 10 hits are gay magazines.
Just saying.
I think that G-Scene is a massive joke–sort of like The Colbert Report, only one level higher in complexity. Instead of mocking the GW club culture, it’s mocking the people that mock the GW club culture (or, to put a finer point on this, it’s intentionally designed to illicite the criticism of others for the entertainment of those who actually are part of the “G-Scene”).

Ironically I learned about this 5 minutes ago when my roommate was reading it and I was like “G-scene, what’s that?” and then I checked the colonialist for today and saw G-Scene

This site is funny, not vulgar, and somewhat witty considering 20 year olds are behind this. We are just highlighting the lives of the kids at this school. Everyone who looks at this loves to gossip and loves to start beef. Is anyone really offended?
All you girls can’t put down the gossip magazines…people, us weekly, OK…the list goes on. If your picture is not on the site…you are wishing it would be…and if your picture is up on the site…you’re wishing you would have smiled better…or worn more clothes. This site is just a comic strip of the life at GW…if you can’t laugh at that..then you have no sense of humor. Everyone can talk all they want but at the end of the day this site makes celebrities out of kids who think they’re already celebrities. This site is immature, at best, but you know what…you check this site once a day, at least. So Colonialist.com, who are you kidding?
